this weekend i'm going camping for the first time since mexico (which was in late june of 2003). it's been far too long!! dustin and i are leaving tonight after work and we'll be back later in the day on sunday. it'll be short, but i'm sure it'll be refreshing. i cant wait to sit in front of a campfire. i just cant wait. i've been wanting to go camping for SUCH a long time. we're going to be in angeles national forest near wrightwood... my dad's favorite place to camp around here (well over an hour away, but that's close if you dont want to camp on cement with what looks like golfing grass as your surroundings).
i rearranged my livingroom the other day. it looks like sheeite. i think i was just bored and restless. i'll be putting it back to the way it used to be within a week's time. i wish i had furniture that i actually liked. most of it is stuff i just want to replace.
i went and saw judas priest with queensryche last friday. it was nothing short of thunder. we didnt watch queensryche, but enjoyed it from afar. we cooked up some carne asada in the parking lot while drinking beer and talking. it was pretty cool. i've never really been exposed to much metal music in my life. it's pretty new to me, but i really like it. not like it's my favorite genre or anything, but i appreciate it and enjoy listening to it. my favorite parts are pretty much the guitar solos. sometimes the vocalists make the songs sound more gay than they probably should. of course, that's the lead singer from judas priest's specialty (he's gay), and he's got like THE voice of metal!
anyway, like i said... the concert was thunder. i loved it. i'd never experienced anything like that before. it was like rob halford was the king and the crowd was comprised of his humble slave followers. the thing is... that probably isnt too far off from the truth. i saw a little kid on someone's shoulders, going wild just like everyone else. it was great. we met a guy in the parking lot who was stoned out of his mind. you could see it in his eyes. he said that they confiscated his ticket. "they said i was too faded, maaaaan. how do i get out of this place? i just wanna like... go.... leave....". i pointed him in the right direction, then he went around and let everyone else experience what we just had. it was funny.
i'm going to see the scorpions and UFO at the end of the month. i recognize some of their songs, kinda, but for the most part i dont know who most metal bands are. i guess i know of some of the big ones.
so... now i'm doing what i always do when i find a new (to me) style of music which i enjoy... i'm pretty much oversaturating myself with it. i use the term "oversaturating" because i just dive right in and typically only listen to one style of new-to-me music until i feel satisfied with my level of saturation. it usually takes a while. i did the same thing with bossa nova. it's funny to me that i went from doing it with bossa nova to doing it with heavy metal. ah well.
my boyfriend bought me a dozen longstem roses the other day... then proceded to tell me the details about how he got the roses, including the price ($13, everyone! $13! tell the world!). it was funny/cute. i like that he doesnt usually know the "right" thing to do in a lot of situations. it helps to assure that he's genuine. can't say i've experienced much of that in recent years. i wont ellaborate.
i leave you with a san francisco "ass pheast".

I got a blue rose from ralphs. But you can only get them at ralphs in del mar, or other ritzy towns, which is totally.. ghetto.

the ralphs by SDSU had these weird two-tone red roses once and they never had them again. they looked fake they were so cool. I was too lame to realize they were some limited thing so I missed out.
I need something cool for my sweet sweet baby.

Yes, there is an albertson's off of via del la valle. I'm not sure what kind of flowers they have.
I hope they still have the pretty blue roses at that ralphs! I haven't been there for a couple weeks. I'm sure they will have something good, though.

OMFG.
so it took me 2 hours to drive from the 8 to the hilton. THEN since the job fair said that parking was going to be $11, I thought I'd be smart and park for just $5 at the tennis club. then I get to the job fair and there's only like 6 companies and they're even less prepared for class than I am, they didn't even know what local IT jobs they had, they were just saying submit your resume online. arrgh.
so I didn't have time to go hunting for curiosities for my sweet baby today.

I worked at the fair, and the day before the 4th, my boyfriend was going to visit me after he got off work and then we were going to see the monster trucks. He works one exit south on the freeway. It took him something like 3 hours to get to the fair. 3 hours to move the length of one exit. In a manual car. And he had to pee - BAD. Needless to say, he was NOT happy, and we missed Monster trucks. And then the next day we had a bbq with my coworkers during the day and one of my coworkers went on about how she just whipped right around "all that traffic" the day before. She said you should NEVER get in line right away, you should always wait the last minute. Yeah, and about a million other people did that and cut in the last minute and that's why it took him 3 hours!!! Fucking assholes. If people would just get over when they are supposed to no one would have to wait that long. I hate stupid people.

take a banana, cut the peel at the top so you only peel a single strip down (while leaving the peel intact). cut a wedge out of the banana and eat it! fill it with chocolate chips, chopped walnuts and mini marshmellows. cover it with the part that you peeled down so it looks almost like a closed banana again. wrap it in foil and throw it in the fire. wait a little while and remove from the fire. chow down with a fork or spoon.... really tasty!
